I think most people who live round here have a tried & tested system to get by when the power goes off.

Some people have a generator to keep their freezers cold, and almost everyone has an alternative method to cook and heat water, even if it's only an old saucepan on an open fire!

Fortunately although there's been more snow than the last few winters, it still hasn't been on the ground too long, or caused too many traffic problems.
